Our Objectives
The Club’s objective is to provide a friendly environment where people can practice woodcraft and enjoy the company of others and promote the skills in all types of woodcraft.
Active involvement, supporting physical and mental health, encouraging and helping members with their woodcraft skills are a main key to the success the Club.
Woodies members are also actively involved in the community by making , fixing and repairing projects. It is important for Woodies to have quality equipment and importantly nurture the various woodworking crafts to our members and the community.
It is also an objective of The Woodies that we work safely. We have a Workplace Health and Safety Committee, a Workplace Health and Safety Policy and Workplace Health and Safety Procedures where new members complete a WHS induction in safe practice and procedures prior to using any equipment.
Woodies conducts workshops and members are advised when they will be on - eg Plan, Measure & Cut, Workshop Procedures & Safe Use of Machines, How to make a Box, Turning, Scroll Saw, How to use hand-tools, Tool Sharpening and many other courses.
Our workshops assist new members who may not have much experience with power tools, hand tools or woodwork in general. It’s exciting to make a piece and say “I made that!”
