Pinnochios
For ten years or more...........for santa claus to deliver. At present our toy making members make toys for kindergartens etc and now emphasis is on making for Victorian Bushifire kids, and of course there are always toys available for the "Craft on Show".
The following article was published in the Western Advocate:-
"When you wish upon a star.....
The story of Geppetto's Pinnochio is a fairytale known the world over, but a dedicated group of local workcarvers have been making the Christmas wishes of Bathurst boys and girls come to life for almost a decade.
Since 1990 when a group of active minded citizens came together for a creative hobby to 'whittle' away the time, the Central Tablelands Woodcraft Club has made gifts of all shapes and sizes for both the young and old.
In 1993 the group began a concentrated effort of making and donating toys to the Salvation Army.
Group members Bill Rigney and Ben Brownjohn have at least 30 of their own pieces divided between their two homes with their partners now insistent the rest go to charity.
For 10 years the Central Tablelands Woodcraft have made items such as cars, trucks, trains and rocking horses for the Salvation Army and Early Childhood Intervention Groups to pass onto Santa Claus to deliver."
