Well our erstwhile Newsletter Editor is missing in action so it has fallen on “the boy” to cobble together something for January.
The Nassar and Bingham-Rolls team are to be congratulated for their big effort with a mail out just prior to Christmas promoting “Craft on Show” 2012. Hopefully we may be able to attract more entries in the
The bane of any volunteer group is the inevitable paperwork. However with a bit of luck we might have the problem solved. Bathurst Regional Council has invited us to bid for funding for secretarial support to help out with filing, letter writing etc. The support could be for up to 3 hours/week and would certainly be very handy.
We have received another letter from 2BS advising us of the contribution in kind the radio station makes in promoting the Woodies during the station’s community announcements. All publicity is good publicity!
Once again we’ve been invited to mount a display, this time in
On 25 March (the Sunday after our March meeting) we are hosting a reception for Senior Citizens Day. The reception will include morning tea, a demonstration and then a sausage sizzle. Michael will confirm the anticipated guests for catering purposes. However Bathurst Regional Council has very kindly contributed towards the cost of catering.
Even though it is only January, already we have completed a couple of projects. On behalf of the Club Bob Bennett has made a lovely trophy for the RSL and an enthusiastic team did a great job of refurbishing a sample timber display for Forests NSW.
There was discussion of what other projects we might be able to get involved with. Michael suggested that it is important that we do some maintenance on our facility including painting etc. He also mentioned that if we need more workshop space for storage etc. We have submitted a bid for a grant for this project and we are now awaiting the outcome of the bid.
John McMahon suggested that consideration be given to the installation of a lift in the corner of the Meeting Room to provide easier access to the room for our less able members. It would also provide internal access to the room and open up the room to more uses. However this project would be quite expensive and would require financial assistance from outside sources. But given that we are all getting a little older and less agile the lift would be a valuable asset.
